Harris & Lewis

A collection of images capture on trips to the amazing Harris & Lewis

While the others decided to wait for the rain for some reason only known to them I knew from past experience how quickly the morning light comes and goes here and decided to make a wet break for a composition I failed at last time.

I wanted the rocks in the foreground to lead the eye naturally to the centre of the image and over the breaking waves and into the rain storm to the distance.

I edited this image to represent the cold, harsh morning that it was.

A two second exposure to show movement int the water but not to blur the sky that is the main focus of the scene

A rare image that i’d like to see myself in at the edge peering out to the sea in deep thought

I do believe my good friend Paul Thomson has a similar image as he is the king of comp stomping and has zero guilt about this outrageous behaviour.

Mangersta Stacks. My first visit to this ancient, rugged and wild location and I was treated to a beautiful rare golden sunset with clear skies and powerful waves

This is a 7 shot panoramic image and being honest I made a mistake, the main subject the cliff opening is in line with the cliffs behind. I should have raised my tripod or moved higher up but the light was so good and I was distracted.

“Luskentyre oh Luskentyre”

Anyone who has had the privilege to go to this beach knows instantly how special it is, not just as a Landscape photographer but as a place that just demands admiration for its beauty and wild nature.

While I was composition hunting I take my camera handheld like many photographers do and search out and test scenes to take on a tripod enabling me to take multiple images of the exact same composition but in the best light and also the best / desired camera settings.

This was one of those times when light was king and was fleeting, take the shot in the best light as it may not return is the takeaway from this image.

I like how the people give scale to this vast scene and also how one subject is running which gives it interest onto of the obvious.

"Quick"

Sometimes in landscape photography you have seconds to setup and capture a shot, these two shots were shot close together but the water quickly hid the patterns that attracted me to the scene and it was then washed away
